W hen it comes down to Beacock Mu- sic’s success, one motto rings loudly, “retail is detail.” It’s a phrase that second- generation owners Gayle and Russ Beacock say their mother, Sue — who co-founded the business alongside her husband Dale — has been repeating for years. As a result, details that some business

owners might overlook, like swept floors and clean bathrooms, have always been on the top of the full-line dealership’s checklist. And that has kept the store at the heart of its Vancouver, Washington, community for the last five decades. “We have our basic principles, and we have not veered away from that, and I

think customers appreciate that,” Sue said. “Good customer service, clean bathrooms and an overall clean store are basic things, but they do carry on the principles of how we started: work hard, never give up and always maintain a clean environment.” These values were developed by Sue and Dale before they opened their first
