5/8 BASS DESIGN Eastman Strings has debuted its 5/8 bass design, featuring a shorter string length and compact body dimensions for improved reach and playability. Wider bouts provide a full, balanced sound, while the bent- back design allows easier access to the upper register. The instrument also accommodates a bass exten- sion, similar to a 3/4 or 7/8 bass. Available in multiple outfit and standalone models, the new 5/8 design was developed in collaboration with educators Dr. Kate Jones and Andy Moritz . {eastmanstrings.com}
