Scott Mandeville Receives NAMM’s Oral History Service Award N AMM’s Oral History Service Award honors recipients “for their invaluable

Oral History Program, Dan Del Fiorentino, to add 13 more interviews to the Oral History project. Mandeville opened his space to Del Fiorentino for interviews first in their old space in 2010 and then two more times in their new space beginning in 2017. “Scott gave us a tour of his store and said he was 100% behind what we do,” Del Fiorentino said. “Scott is a real gem in this industry.” Mandeville said Del Fiorentino is “super organized and so easy to work with.” When asked how and when they met, both Mandeville and Del Fiorentino said they feel like they have known each other forever. Del Fiorentino stressed the amaz- ing time saved by being able to record seven or eight interviews on the same day in the same place thanks to Mandeville opening up his space. And this is just the beginning. Mandeville said he told Del Fiorentino that he has 15 more suggestions for NAMM’s Oral History Program. — By Myrna Sislen

Mandeville began his journey in the mu- sic business 47 years ago on an instrument repair bench. He now does band instrument repair consulting all over the country. Man- deville was president of NAPBIRT (National Association of Professional Instrumental Repair Technicians) from 2005–2007 and served on the NAMM Board of Directors from 2017–2020. Since 2005, Mandeville has owned Tim’s Music. It was Mandeville’s suggestions of industry leaders to interview, as well as the use of his store for those interviews, that enabled NAMM historian and head of the NAMM
