pro P.A. loudspeakers. “They wanted more clarity and they wanted more output, but we needed to do some engineering changes to solve that. So, what we did was — instead of doing a typical top box which is a string of the same size drivers that all acoustically interfere with each other and give the audience an inconsistent experience — we redesigned it so we’re using the waveguide that’s in our patented LEAF waveguide that is in the class line array system with a 1-inch compression driver. With that, we’re able to get actual top-end clarity in this box that nobody else in the column category will be able to do. So, this is really a column [speaker] in shape and form-factor only.” Brouelette said the NAMM response from general attendees was just as strong as the accolades it received. “The buzz was amazing,” he said. “Our marketing department did an incredible job of seeding the column speakers around at other [brand’s] booth, so when people came to our booth and they saw the demo, they’d said, ‘Oh, I already heard it at Roland’s booth or Casio’s booth.’ And so then coming to

our booth, they were already excited about it and want to hear it sort of more in situ.” Over in the DJ hall, AlphaTheta Corpora- tion stepped outside of its traditional DJ con- troller segment to release the Chordcat, a new type of groovebox designed to help producers instantly find new ideas for progressions and to enable musicians to quickly capture and develop their ideas in the studio or on the go. Chord Cruiser suggests seamless, musi- cally intuitive chord transitions, and users can utilize Chordcat to select recommended chords while playing, enabling them to com- pose original and expressive tracks without needing advanced musical knowledge. “Just as Chordcat is the embodiment of AlphaTheta’s commitment to technological and artistic innovation, NAMM provided the opportunity to get feedback from art- ists, engineers, enthusiasts and members of the dealer community,” said John Powell, president of AlphaTheta Americas. “We hoped that the show would be the perfect place to get depth of feedback, and we were not disappointed in any way whatsoever. We left Anaheim with strong insights and

more than a few actionable ideas. That’s the platform that NAMM gives us.” Back in ACC North, first-time NAMM ex- hibitor Ear Trumpet Labs debuted its Wanda microphone, a condenser mic that pairs mid- century design with modern performance. The mic’s medium-large diaphragm condenser capsule, high-SPL handling and multilayer pop filter make it ideal for high-volume ap- plications with great feedback rejection and plosive control for studio sound anywhere. After displaying at their first NAMM show, Malachi Graham, business manager for Ear Trumpet Labs, said the show pro- vided plenty of booth traffic and the oppor- tunity to meet longtime business partners. “We had a fantastic experience at our first NAMM show,” Graham said. “Booth traffic was constant, and it was especially exciting to finally meet some of our long-time resellers in person and share ideas. We went in unsure of what to expect, but we were thrilled with the vibrant conversations, positive energy and valuable business connections we made. We’re looking forward to building on the relationships we started there.” MI
