F ew music stores reach their 100th anniversary — and fewer still can trace their origins to a silent film musician. Dietze Music, however, is a rare exception. In 1925, August Dietze, a pit orchestra musician, had lost his job due to the

popularity of “talkies” and returned to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he founded Dietze Music. Oper- ating in the same location in downtown Lincoln until 2013, Dietze Music today has grown to four storefronts, 60 employees and 650 lessons students a week across all locations.
