an expansion called Nuevo Worship Latino II. “Last year we launched Nuevo Worship Latino I, and it was a huge success for the worship community in the Latino market,” Ison said. “And now with part II, it’s even more successful. The songs that are referenced will automati- cally set up the keyboard so you’re ready to go. Every church in North America can’t afford to pay a drummer and bass player to perform every Sunday, but they do want a lively and vibrant worship environment, and the Nuevo Worship Latino II styles give you that.” Yamaha showed the MODX M series for gigging musicians, a midrange synthesizer that recently had an operating system update which makes it very similar to the company’s flagship
Montage M. All of Yamaha’s pro synths will now include a VST software version when customers purchase the hardware. New from Roland, Earth Electric Piano is a software instrument based on the acoustic piano version Roland released last year, this time using classic electric piano sampling and advanced modeling techniques together to maximize playability and realism. “The way things build is much more organic with individual discrete samples,” explained Brandon Ryan, product marketing manager at Roland. “There are real similarities — the same kinds of effects, equalizers, three compres- sor modes, all that is the same. But in Earth Electric Piano, you’ve got a bunch of differ-
ent models: tine-based pianos, reed pianos, various types of clavinets, three FM models, Roland RD-style piano, JD from the Roland JD-800, and finally an electric grand. So you can basically choose your mechanism, your speaker simulator and tremolo type, and you can mix and match all that stuff. Then you have the final studio effects. “In our Galaxias environment you have the ability to stack these and combine them with other synthesizers,” Ryan continued. “Then you can look at the whole thing like a single instrument with a Roland Earth Piano layer or Earth Electric Piano layer plus a synthesizer layer. You can combine a lot of different pianos and electrics with the two instruments.” MI
