Nordic Shells has launched a Jasper-style shell. The thick maple and gum com- bination is Nordic’s modern interpretation of these vintage-style shells. The Jasper shell has been synonymous with vintage Rogers Drums and Gretsch Drums. Maple and gumwood have been a perennial favorite in the drum in- dustry for decades. Nordic’s Maple is sourced from Michigan and the gum- wood near Jasper, Indiana. Each ply is 1-millimeter thick, laid out in a classic long grain (L) and short grain (s) formula of Ls/Ls/sL and expertly executed by the Nordic craftsmen. In conjunction with the Jasper-style shell, Nordic has also launched a new Round Over 30-degree bearing edge. Latin Percussion (LP) has released a limited-edition set of 60th Anniversary Congas. Constructed of fiberglass to pay tribute to LP’s original drums and Top-Tuning Comfort Curve II rims repre- senting the company’s latest evolution in conga technology, the set consists of an 11-inch quinto, 11.75-inch conga and a 12.5-inch tumba. Each drum shell is hand-painted with Roasted Hazel finish ensuring each drum is unique.
