The Sound Shaper offers discrete tone control and features an adjustable three- position bumper that regulates the shell’s natural vibration. Founded in 1985 by audiologist Dr. Michael Santucci in Chicago, the company began as a musicians’ hearing clinic focused on hearing conservation. Frustrated with the limitations of foam earplugs, Santucci collab- orated with Etymotic Research to create the first custom high-fidelity earplugs In the 1990s, Santucci introduced the ProPhonic IV, the first in-ear monitor (IEM) with balanced armature drivers in custom silicone earpieces. This innovation reduced ambient noise and enabled safer listen- ing, earning early adoption by The Grateful Dead, Aerosmith and Poison. Sensaphonics has since developed products like the 3DME Active Ambient IEM system, featuring binau- ral microphones and app-controlled custom- ization, and the dB Check Pro, a device mea- suring real-time listening levels for safe use. Dedicated to hearing health, Santucci edu- cates musicians and professionals worldwide, partnering with organizations like the World Health Organization and MusiCares. i Sensophonics (sensaphonics.com)
