GITC Presents MI Board Service Awards For two decades, the NAMM Foundation has continued to support the work of California nonprofit Guitars and Ukes in the Classroom (GITC) for the organization’s dedicated work creating new generations of music-makers. The organi- zation credits its board members, among them notable leaders in the music products industry, with strategically advising, and supporting the 501c3’s work expanding the role of music in education and elevating student engagement in musical, academic and social-emotional learning through the integration of joyful, inclusive, hands-on music during the school day and beyond Esteemed MI members have long played crucial roles in leading, support- ing and guiding the organization since its inception. This January, GITC is recognizing three current board members, includ- ing MI notables. Tom Dougherty of TKL Cases is receiving the Distinguished Board Service Award for his devoted lead- ership since 2017. GITC will also recog- nize Grammy-winning producer and guitarist, Larry Mitchell, for his strong board service as an artist advocate and education leader with GITC’s Above and Beyond Award.
